Summertime means fun time, which often leads to increased sun time. While protection from the sun’s rays is important year-round, it is especially relevant during the summer months. Protection from the sun’s UV rays helps prevent skin cancer.

The American Academy of Dermatology suggests these three steps to people of all skin types and tones to help prevent skin cancer:

  1. Seek shade from the sun;
  1. Wear protective clothing;
  1. Apply sunscreen on every area of your skin that is not covered by clothing.
  1. Do you know which is the best sunscreen for your skin?

Skin cancer affects people of all races and ethnicities. It can be especially dangerous for members of the Black and Hispanic communities.
