A new, state-of-the-art healthcare facility for our future. The proposed 49,000 square foot, 3-story building will bring all of our key services under one roof — improving patient comfort and access while providing essential room for expanded programming.
We are in the design and fundraising process and anticipate starting construction in early 2025.
Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Community Health Center Week — a week dedicated to highlighting the work of America’s 1400 community health centers. In celebration, Harvard Street hosted a patient appreciation Book Fest, with giveaway gifts, a scrapbooking craft table, free books for all ages, and a reading by visiting author Mel Gillespie.
Our staff packaged and distributed care bags for those experiencing homelessness in our community. The bags included health & beauty items, dental care products, and socks donated by Bomba. On Employee Appreciation day, staff enjoyed a free lunch of tacos by Taco Guy and gifts of appreciation from Harvard Street. We were especially grateful this year to be selected by NACHC for an event grant that provided funding for our Patient Appreciation Book Fest.
In March at Boston University’s City Space, Harvard Street held its 2nd Annual Speaker Series event — The Global Village: Standing Up for Tolerance & Inclusion with Rev. Cornell William Brooks, Harvard Professor and the 18th President & CEO of NAACP.
Reverand Brooks, a highly acclaimed speaker and civil rights leader, spoke eloquently and with passion on MLK Jr’s vision of a global village and how that might guide us today as we strive to be a welcoming healthcare home, overcoming systemic racism, healthcare inequities, and discrimination of any kind.
Harvard Street was also thrilled to present the President’s Award to Boston Public Health Commission’s Executive Director, Dr. Bisola Ojikutu, for her dedication to addressing racial and ethnic health disparities in Boston’s communities. It was truly a night to remember!
