Health & Wellness Fair

Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center (HSNHC) hosted its annual Health & Wellness Fair at Grove Hall’s Mecca on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In sponsorship with Carney Hospital, Neighborhood Development Corporation of Grove Hall, Neighborhood Health Plan, United Healthcare, Senior Whole Health, Empire Party Rentals and Stop & Shop this event connected community members with helpful information and resources.

Although cold and raining, the event was well attended by many patients, community residents and local leaders including Angela Vo, a Legislative Aid from Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz’s office and Charles Clemons, candidate for District 7 City Councilor.
The event engaged all attendees in a handful of activities that will improve their health and well-being. Numerous individuals stopped by the fair to get information from participating vendors and to get their blood pressure or glucose checked. Event guests also enjoyed the healthy eating demonstrations presented by HSNHC’s Nutrition department which offered folks a taste of warm oatmeal and vegetarian chili. Many enjoyed the Zumba classes lead by Elise from Healthworks Community Fitness while their children had fun in the bounce house.

“We are always delighted to organize and host events that help our patients, community members and their families live healthier lives,” said Charley Murphy, President and CEO of Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center.

We couldn’t have pulled off this event without our sponsors and participating vendors. Thank you to all who made this year’s Health & Wellness Fair a success.
