The Get Healthy Fair

On Saturday, August 1, 2015 CeltiCare Health and Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center (HSNHC) co-sponsored the Get Healthy Fair at Franklin Park Zoo. This event attracted many neighbors who were eager to improve their health and well-being. The fair offered lots of information and activities for all ages.

So much to do and so much to see with an array of vendors available to educate and serve the community. HSNHC provided health screenings along with information on our service offerings such medical, behavioral, dental and WIC. It was great to see the smiles on children’s faces and their inquisitiveness as we demonstrated the proper way to brush and floss your teeth. Many who received blood pressure and/or glucose screenings proactively inquired about how to improve their readings to healthy levels. Fortunately, we had many CeltiCare nurses on site who were available to have this dialogue with each individual. Additionally CeltiCare provided answers to questions about their plan offerings and also offered everyone a healthy snack. AdMeTech Foundation provided information on prostate cancer and its effects within our community; other vendors delivered information on substance use disorders; on growing your own garden; on the importance of staying physically fit and let us not forget the music played by JAM’N 94.5.

This was truly a great event and we at HSNHC are so glad to have partnered with CeltiCare and Franklin Park Zoo to make this happen. Thank you to all who came and participated in making this a very successful event. An event that connected residents and zoo patrons to resources that will help them and their families live healthier lives.
