HSNHC’s mission of providing quality and comprehensive medical care that is accessible to all was appreciated and shared by our special guest speaker, United States Senator Elizabeth Warren. In her speech, Senator Warren stated she has always been a fan of community health centers long before running for public office. “As a Senator, I get to fight for the things I love…being on the committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions really, really matters to me.”

The event was well attended by many patients, community residents and local leaders including State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry; State Representative Russell Holmes; Felix Arroyo, the Chief of Health and Human Services for the City of Boston and Michael Curry, Legislative Affairs Director & Senior Counsel at the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and President of the NAACP Boston. Each presenter at the Women’s Health Forum was determined to empower women with the necessary tools to manage and improve their personal care and the health of a loved one so that they can be stronger and healthier.

“I particularly appreciate Senator Warren taking time out of her extremely busy schedule to share her thoughts with us,” said Charley Murphy, President/CEO. “Also, the other elected and appointed officials’ attendance sends a strong message to our patients and staff that our health center is an important part of our neighborhood. It’s good to know that the work we do at Harvard Street, is meaningful and valued by so many.” Eileen Kenner, a long time patient of HSNHC and board member, is looking forward to next year’s forum, she said “the event was excellent, engaging and exceptionally informative.”
