Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center (HSNHC) has selected Kathy K. Best as their Chief Performance and Strategy Officer. HSNHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides quality, comprehensive patient-centered medical care and has been serving the community for 49 years. In this role, Kathy will lead the center in ensuring exceptional and efficient operational performance. Kathy is a lifelong resident of Dorchester and is deeply committed to creating access to services in underserved communities. Kathy began her public health career at HSNHC as the Program Director of Project IMPACT (Infant Mortality Prevention through Activating Community Teams) -- a maternal and child health program at HSNHC. Kathy has 20+ years of service to the Federal Government with the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service and the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Her most recent appointment was as the Region I Project Officer and Maternal and Child Health Consultant in HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The Bureau promotes and improves the health of mothers, children, and families, particularly those who are vulnerable and lack access to care. Kathy is a recipient of numerous government awards for excellence including HRSA’s Gold Award, the HHS Regional Directors Award for her leadership in community service, and the USDA’s Honor Award for outstanding work with state partners leading to the recovery of almost $1 billion. Kathy is a Gold Plus Life Member of Blacks In Government and currently serves on its National Executive Committee, and the Region I Council President. Kathy is a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She holds a BA from Alabama State University and an MBA from Curry College. Kathy is a proud mother to two beautiful daughters, Naimah and Arimenta.
